Now for something completely different. So far we’ve been to gulf and riverfront campgrounds, now we are trying lakefront camping. Our route took along I- 4, which neither of us like, but is the quickest way to go from Lakeland to Orlando. We ran into a few rain showers along the way, but mostly dry. We got off at Narcoossee Road, with only a couple miles left to our destination, and we were surprised by how developed the area around the campground was. There was almost anything you could want available right before the KOA grounds.

We turned on the road to the campground and we immediately knew this was going to be a good experience. First off there was an RV parking lot on the right, next was a place to get your propane tanks filled and then on the right was a place to park your RV so you can go and register.

Tom went to the office to sign in, and I waited in the truck with the puppies. I could see on my left was the bathroom /shower facilities, across was the camp store and office and ahead was a gated entrance with a guard. Tom soon came out and told me they were sending an escort to help us find and back-in to our spot.

Our campsite was a back-in right in front of the water, with only a small grassy area between the lake and us. The campsite had a nice concrete pad which was surrounded by grass. The electric, water, and sewer connections were right there on the right, and there was also a cable connection for TV. We also had our own picnic bench at our site.
Dog Park Campground’s General Store Tom and the puppies taking a break from their walk Heated Pool Playground
I highly recommend this site. The pool and hot tub were close behind us, and the bathrooms were nearby also. After setting up, we grabbed the dogs and took out our first walk around the immediate area. It became obvious why this place is so highly rated. It had all the amenities you could want for a short or long stay, clean and “very” well kept.

This is the perfect destination for anything from a quick getaway from a hard work week, to a long stay away from winter’s weather up north. Hard to believe this place is so close to the airport and all Orlando City has to offer, yet seems like a million miles from reality, the perfect stress relief so peaceful and quiet.
